HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TRAINING WITH LEAGUE READY?

I started training with League Ready the summer of 2015.

WHAT WAS YOUR INITIAL THOUGHTS ON THE PROGRAM?

Initially, I was so hungry to add to my game that I wanted to pursue the opportunity to gain any exposure and skill! So I figured why not give it a try.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO START TRAINING WITH LEAGUE READY?

I seen a mentor and instructor who had been where I was trying to go. Seeing is believing with a lot of young men chasing greatness and I was no different. I was eager to receive knowledge from someone that could relate it to me with experience, someone who had walked the footsteps I was currently following. I felt like I was so close to achieving my dream & I was one major step away but couldn't quite figure out what that step was at the moment. I was like a young sponge trying to steal & soak knowledge from anyone that was willing to offer it. I was like the young eared boy sitting in on the wise men conversations!

HOW HAS THE PROGRAM HELPED YOU?

Tremendously! Tremendously! I mean so tremendously that I must say it twice. I've always had an outstanding and relentless work ethic but as I said earlier I always felt I was missing something minor that would make a major difference and through League Ready I found that! It was simple, the key I was missing was the mental standpoint. The mentality of a PRO. The mentality of a PRO especially for my position believe it or not is a very unselfish and godly mentality. This mentality goes beyond the court activity, this was an everyday mentality you can always have even beyond basketball. I've always been a very well-mannered young man so off the court I never had issues with trouble or grades so that was an easier transition than on the court. My biggest on the court PRO mentality was adjusting to life beyond the bucket. There is far more activity that takes place in basketball than a scores bucket. How was it scored? Who assisted in the score? Where was it scored from? Was the scorer comfortable while scoring? What was taking place at the time of the score with the other players? Were the non-scorers doing their job which in turn contributed to the score. As a PG, you're like the quarterback being that you MUST know everyone's job while also knowing yours. You are the spokesman & must lead by example. You must be a PRO at all times in all phases of the game. Help the other 4 players see the play you're executing in ways that benefit them because each player is different. The mental aspect of the game is just as important as the physical & through League Ready I was able to lower my ego and pride and grasp that. I use to think basketball was all about the bucket but I learned otherwise. I wish I had learned this when I was about 14 years old!

WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE DURING TRAINING?

Staying consistent with the PRO mentality when others didn't initially see the vision. You know you have those guys that grind so hard that at times they can be selfish so it's harder to stay the course & relate the PRO mentality to them. But if you just be consistent & lead by example while also communicating with them in various tones that are necessary for that particular player because each man is different. As the PG you are the leader & coach on the floor, so when others get out of character it falls back on you so you must be mentally ready to receive that criticism & still maintain the PRO attitude & continue to lead.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR GOALS WITH BASKETBALL?

Well even at 25 years old I feel like I've matured so much & gained so much mental knowledge along with skill work through League Ready that I could be considered a young veteran to anybody trying to achieve their goals. Because just like I was a young dog that was open-minded to learn from someone who did what I dreamed of doing, I can now be that extra knowledge because through League Ready I'm blessed to say that I have achieved my dream. I was able to play professional basketball at a very high level in Germany. I was able to retain information given & accomplish my dream & for that I am forever thankful. An overall great program led by GOD first, League Ready is simply the way to go. So if you first believe and keep GOD first, and secondly come in willing & ready to learn from ones that have done what you're trying to do, and believe it or not LASTLY obtain the physical skill work & apply it to your game. You too can achieve your dream through League Ready!
